Southey Green Medical Centre

Southey Green Medical Centre is an inner city practice, serving the local community of the S3 S4 & S5 areas.

Our Mission Statement is to offer high-quality equitable sustainable community-based healthcare

Southey Green Medical Centre cares for around 2250 patients, with a rich and global cultural heritage. Some of our daily communication with our patients requires the support of an interpreter, from the reception desk to the consultation room. We use both face to face and telephone interpreters as well as employing bilingual staff.

Our reception or clinical staff may offer you an appointment with one of several types of healthcare workers at the practice, or within our network, such as mental health workers and link workers, as we aim to offer you the most appropriate help for your specific need.

The practice is very busy and it can sometimes be difficult to get through to us. We are working hard to improve this, by developing our website and online services. We hope our website will guide you directly to the right service for your needs, which may mean bypassing the practice altogether at times.

We are based within one of the most deprived wards in Sheffield, where people can struggle with social and health inequalities such as low incomes, poor health, poor education, poor housing and shorter life expectancy. We aspire to support our local community with a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, and work with local community organisations to achieve this.

We form part of the Foundry Primary Care Network, a group of 8 local GP practices, who are working together to develop new services for the local population of 55 000 people. These practices include Page Hall Centre, Burngreave Surgery, Forge Health group (formerly Pitsmoor Surgery & Flowers Medical Centre), Upwell Street Surgery, Firth Park Surgery, Wincobank Medical Centre and Sheffield Medical Centre.

We welcome your support and your feedback
